Individual Overnight Campout Checklist

When camping overnight, we recommend each person camping have the following items:

Medical

  • BSA Medical Form Part A & Part B (REQUIRED FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS)
  • Prescription medications in original container (kept by adult guardian)

Cub Scout Six Essentials (Plus for Camping)

  • First-Aid Kit
  • Filled Water Bottle
  • Sun Protection / Bug Spray
  • Flashlight/Headlamp (with extra batteries)
  • Snacks/Trail Food
  • Whistle
  • Extra Clothing
  • Rain Gear

Clothing

For Scouts & Leaders

  • Field Uniform (aka Class A/Fancy Uniform)
  • Activity Uniform (aka Class B/Unit T-Shirt/Scouting T-Shirt)

All Participants

  • Coat/Jacket/Sweatshirt
  • Rain Gear/Poncho
  • Closed-toe shoes (boots/sneakers)
  • Boots/shoes – Extra pair
  • Hat (suggested for sun and tick protection)
  • Pants + extra pair
  • Shirts + extra
  • Socks + extra pair
  • Underwear + extra pair

Sleeping

  • Tent (4+ person suggested)
  • Tent Footprint/Ground Cloth/Plastic Sheet
  • Sleeping Bag/Blanket
  • Sleeping Pad/Air Mattress/Cot
  • Pillow
  • Pajamas

Keeping Clean

  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Hand Sanitizer (suggested)
  • Toilet paper (optional)

Cooking and Eating

  • Mess Kit (Plate, bowl, cup, and utensils)
  • Refillable water bottle/cup

Camp Gear

  • Folding Chair/Camp Chair
  • Folding Pocket Knife (Scouts with Whittling Chip and Adults)
  • Day Pack/Small Backpack (Recommended)

Extras

  • Equipment for Pack campsite (as requested)
  • Nylon cord/paracord
  • Fishing Pole/Gear
  • Sunglasses
  • Mobile Phone Battery Pack

Do Not Bring

  • NO alcoholic beverages
  • NO fireworks, firearms, archery equipment, etc.
  • NO fixed blade knives
  • NO pets
  • NO liquid fuel (except propane when used by an adult)
  • NO outside firewood
